Here, I want to say that these statements are radically twisted to justify those elders deeply ingrained traditional beliefs, which really only causes some people to walk away from Jesus Christ, and not toward him with conviction. God has never meant to punish believers for embarking upon His perfect way to live a life of solitary sadness. These elders have put extremely large amount of false pressure to their followers, when they themselves can not even give a true promise of eternal glories in heaven for their Christian brethern. If the followers do perfect works of self-righteousness in perfect accordance to their prescriptions, then it would seem that the elders could even at least give a fruitful promise to a dieing follower; however, when a follower is at the end of life they can only have a small hope to get to heaven. How radical for a powerful elder to create such ungodly fear into a person's life, that they would even want to listen to them.
That is why God, who is supreme, and hold our destiny in his hands, wants us to faithfully rely on him with the power of grace and full promise assurance to get to heaven. God never meant for believers to fear with hand-wringing doubt for their promise to enjoy in paradise. Christians can hence go through life with ever abounding joy to then be ushered into the glorious realm in the sweet bye and bye.
